Midterm Presentation

The midterm presentation will be on Tuesday, October 26th. We have a very good panel of guest jurors coming. The main goal of the midterm presentation is to get good feedback that can guide your efforts for the rest of the semester.
The presentations must convey a clear idea of the building that you propose. You must show the jury your intent in terms of program, orientation, massing, space distribution, circulation, materiality and character of the space.
To this end I make the following recommendations:
  1. Begin your presentation with an image that shows your building and the way it engages its surrounding urban fabric. This image must explain the main goals of your project.
  2. Show the inside and outside of the building through models and perspective drawings. The interior perspectives or models will help you better design the spaces.
  3. Present the research that led you to choose your site, program and explain the logic behind your chosen site intervention.
  4. Show area and FAR calculations, and a list of the spaces that your building provides.

As we have discussed there will be a group model of the entire site, the object being to consider the effect of all the studio’s buildings on the neighborhood. We will discuss the scale in studio today.

There will also be a group introduction to the site, with updated research from the first group presentation.

Next Tuesday we will have the last critique before midterm, as I want to give you plenty of time to prepare, so keep this in mind and make the best use of this opportunity for feedback. On Friday I will visit the studio to assist you with any questions, but will leave to attend as guest juror on another studio’s midterm.
